Being outdoors is an essential part of life, whether you are a child or an adult. Fresh air, sunshine and regular activity is all part of a balanced lifestyle no matter what age you are.

There are many different vices children have these days when thinking of items to occupy their minds and bodies We have gone from a simple world to a place where electronic devices such as MP3 players, game consoles and portable entertainment devices are a necessity instead of luxuries. Our society these days has seem to have lost its desire for personal interaction from face-to-face contact such as visiting neighbours and playing cards, going for bike rides with friends down the street or even volunteering in our communities.

Not only is this keeping our children from remaining active outdoors, but also limiting their social skills by keeping them segregated from other children in the neighbourhood that they would otherwise interact with on a regular basis. Outdoor toys such as trampolines and climbing apparatuses are age-old tools that have been around for many years and enjoyed by an assortment of generations. These wonderful recreational devices have promoted not only physical health but also friendships with children in the neighbourhood who are keen on coming over to play and spend time interacting.

Trampolines come in a number of sizes and styles compared to the types of trampolines that our parents and kids before us were exposed to.

These days trampolines are very common throughout backyards with school-aged children. With much focus on childhood safety and preventative measures with trampolines, you are able to purchase an enclosure screen for your trampoline in order to avoid any unnecessary injuries that may be caused during the time your children are using this device.

There are a variety of climbing structures available for purchase that range in price dependent on their size and manufactured materials. Some climbing toys have built-in playhouses, rope ladders or bridges, and even incorporated slides.

There is no better way to encourage your child’s physical health than to purchase an outdoor play structure or trampolines so that they are tempted to spend their spare time outdoors having fun rather than inside sitting and watching television or playing their computer games and eating unhealthy snacks. One popular style of outdoor climbing frames is made with wood. Wood is durable, pre-treated and can be left outdoors all year long without any significant damage to the play set. Some play structures are made with a durable plastic material but they do need to be disassembled and stored during the winter months to avoid weather damage.

Obesity is one of the major causes of childhood diabetes and typically leads to obesity in adulthood. Once your child has grown and weight control is an issue, it can be a more serious problem when they are adults than trying to promote good physical health earlier on in life.

Jumpking Trampolines

What is great about being on a trampoline is the thrill it gives to jump, shoot up in the air, feel weightless for a moment and back down again and repeating over and over again with little effort. During the summer months, trampolines are one of the most popular outdoor activities and toys to buy for the kids or whole family.

There are many aspects of childhood for children these days which involve danger such as playing out the front of the house where cars pass, but trampolines mean that safety is at a premium and children can be visible at all times.  Parents love them as kids can be left having fun, occupied for hours at a time, burns calories so competes against obesity and best of all give the parents time to themselves although the screaming from the garden with excitement maybe a test for the ears.

There are many varieties of trampolines depending if it is a indoor one such as a mini trampoline or medium sized models such as the Jumpking Trampoline which usually comes with a safety net to stop people falling off and hurting themselves. To increase the safety when jumping on any round trampoline is to get a trampoline for a safety enclosure, or to add one on at a later date which attaches easily to the frame.

The largest are usually rectangular which are very similar to those you see on tv and used for competitions such as the Olympics but made from a higher quality structure, bounce mat and springs. Following the safety aspect, it is always best to keep a trampoline a considerable distance away from fences, bushes, brick walls or any other significant hazard in case someone was to fall off their trampoline, slip off the ladder or just where general accidents do unfortunately happen.

he safety net consists of a thin material which hangs down and makes it almost impossible for anyone to slip or fall off a trampoline, especially as they are a good distance from the ground so could involve a considerable fall for younger children. Additionally on the safety front, are ladders which enable anyone to climb onto a trampoline, be it round or rectangular without a struggle.

Any trampoline consists of a small amount of parts, but each part being very strong and together give a very robust and effective toy and incredible fun. Firstly is the galvanised metal frame which is designed to hold more than one person whilst on the trampoline. Secondly are the large steel springs which work in combination with a stretched bounce mat and give the user a life they will love, right up into the air. As mentioned above, competition trampolines have the same design but each part is made from even stronger materials as the gymnasts jump incredibly high and give it a much larger impact and use.

There is one particular make of trampoline called Jumpking http://idealtrampolines.co.uk/, have a high quality bounce mat as other makes but include a extra grip design so slipping is at a minimum.

Trampolines and Climbing Frames

No matter the age of a child there will always be a need to have outdoor fun and activities while giving the child some learning skills involved. Kids always have games and videos when in the home, but what about when the child goes out to play? Well we have a solution to that as well. Outdoor toys supply children with both fun, enjoyment, and problem solving skills at the same time.

Another favorite is the Climbing frames, which are made of wood and prefabricated for easy assembly. The more add-ons you get when you purchase a Climbing frame costs more but some additions include: Slides, Rope Ladders, and even fake Rock climbing Walls. On both the Trampoline and Climbing frame you must consider the size of play area needed to avoid any problems with other outdoor items such as bird baths, gardens, patios, and decks.

Having a craving for more mythological ideas then the Inflatable Bouncy Castle is the one for you. Why not slay the evil dragon and then have lunch, and while we are at it, the castle needs moved to the other side of the park. No problem this toy is easily inflatable and deflate able making it an easy task to move. Inflatable Bouncy Castles are a great choice if you have limited room in the back yard to use.

Outdoor toys manufactured by Madfun, of the many products that they carry the Trampoline is probably one of the most known and used toy. It offers excitement and expends a child’s physical energy at the same time allows them to have fun. Years ago there were many problems with Trampolines due to children falling off or hitting objects when coming down. However in recent days this has been curbed by a Net that can be placed around the trampoline. Another new addition to trampolines are accessories like stairs, Tie Down Kits, Covers, Zero Gravity Safety Enclosures, and Slamma Jamma Hoop Kits.

There are also riding toys that are convertible for children who cannot reach the ground yet. After the child is able to reach the ground, the parents can convert the toy so that they no longer have to push them to go. These toys are great for outside play, especially when in a playground or in the backyard. Some of the larger models do actually work, such as the Go Cart. It is recommended that children should be attended when driving the Go Cart and be age appropriate. There is a Pedal Go Cart as well from Madfun, which allows a rider to not require a motor to run.

Wooden Playhouses work well with children and young adults alike as it adds a sense of a playhouse or pretend home. They help encourage children to learn pretending and sometimes problem solving skills around the home. Being made of real wood they are durable and last for long periods of time. Wooden Playhouses also come in many varieties and sizes, making them ideal for children of all ages. Consumers can also purchase kitchens, and other accessories to go with it to add to the fun.

Madfun also supplies swimming pools for those who enjoy the water. Why leave a kid outside on a hot day getting sun burned? Getting a pool for those hot days in the summer is a great idea. With Madfun there are plenty of accessories to go with the pool as well like a volleyball net, Ladder, Floating LED light, and even a heater. Swimming pools help young children and adults learn to swim, get plenty of exercise and keep cooled down. Swimming Pools range in size and price, so make sure if you buy one to get the right liner for cold winters or when the pool is not in use.

Overall, be it trampolines, climbing frames, playhouses or any other outdoor toy children can play in the safety of their back garden, away from roads and traffic and not just sitting indoors infront of games consoles.

Outdoor Toys Like Trampolines

Digital technology seems to have taken the place of outdoor play in the lives of our children. Children of today spend an inordinate amount of time in front of the television, video games and the computer. Aren’t you tired of seeing that blank look on your children’s faces when they are watching television or playing on the computer?   Although they’ll need to have a working knowledge of the computer and other technical gismos as they grow up, there is absolutely no substitute for playing outside.

Get the children outside and observe their creativity! Jumping on a trampoline or swimming in an inflatable pool are great ways for children to burn energy and stay fit, all while having fun. Children as young as four and five years old are already obese for their height and weight, most often due to little physical activity outdoors. Health issues will plague them the rest of their lives if something doesn’t change for them very soon.

Children benefit in so many ways from playing on and with outdoor toys such as climbing frames, trampoline,  pedal carslarger-than-life garden games, bouncy castles,  and swimming pools.

Let’s look at the benefits our children will enjoy from playing on outdoor toys.

1) Studies have shown also that children will naturally develop other complex skills in the areas of sequencing, planning, and organization. Playing outside in an unstructured environment, and using outdoor toys, enables children to develop problem solving skills and decision-making skills while having a great time. Children who play outside have an easier time learning math, writing, reading, spelling, history, etc.   These are skills they’ll use throughout their growing years and finely tune as they mature into adults.

2) Children learn to work with others toward a common goal and they learn to compromise in the process. What is the first thing children do when they arrive at a playground with a climbing frame? They begin talking with other children and the next thing you know, they’re all playing together and acting out the scenarios they’ve created in their minds.

3) Children who engage in outdoor physical activity have fewer problems sleeping, and fewer problems with depression, anxiety, and aggressive behavior. Simply put, playing outdoors makes children happy.

Giving children a great area in the back yard to explore, create, use their imaginations, play with their friends, and burn off energy will encourage outdoor play. You need to make going outdoors as much fun as possible! Indoor activities tend to monopolize children’s time nowadays. How do encourage your children to go outside?  The outdoors is like a blank canvas on which children can create their own masterpiece.  Thankfully, there are several outdoor toys from which parents can choose to provide the perfect play area for their children.

Playhouses are an excellent way to spark the imagination of girls and boys alike. Playhouses encourage creativity, social interaction, and cooperation skills. They’ll love decorating their playhouse with their favorite colors and toys, and then acting out dramas with their siblings or friends. They’ll make-believe from the time the sun comes up to the time the sun goes down.

Climbing frames with slides, climbing walls, swings, bridges, tents, and other great accessories give children plenty of opportunities to use every muscle in their bodies to swing, climb, push, pull, twist, slide, hang, and jump. It stands to reason also that if children play harder, they’ll eat better, which means they are healthier and will sleep more soundly at night. All the while, they are gaining strength and agility, not to mention self-confidence in their own abilities.

Driving a pedal car is a great way for a child to do this! Pedal cars on the market today look realistic and grown-up. A child who learns how to drive a pedal car gets the idea of how a vehicle handles and he has the option of taking the car where he wants to go, instead of always having to ride along with his parents to places he doesn’t necessarily enjoy going, like the grocery store or post office. Most children enjoy emulating the adults in their life, which means they’re interested in any activity that makes them feel more like an adult. There are pedal cars that look like fire engines, racecars and trucks, to name a few.

A bouncy castle promotes physical and mental activity, not to mention a lot of fun. Children can bounce, jump, roll, flap their arms, and laugh uncontrollably, all within the safety of the cushy, air filled walls of a bouncy castle. Younger children will enjoy bouncing around (safely) in a bouncy castle. These are great for parties, but also for every day use.  Your daughter can pretend she is the princess of her castle, and your son can pretend he is the king of the castle.

Outdoor toys are a fantastic way to get your children into the fresh air! Whichever type of toy you choose, be in trampolines, climbing frames or more, they’ll be healthier and happier for playing outside, and all because you made a worthy investment in their well-being.

Types Of Trampolines

The first modern trampoline is credited to two men by the names of Larry Griswold and George Nissen.  Both men were involved in gymnastics and had friends in the circus industry.  Both also had experience mending the trapeze artists’ nets and were inspired by the elasticity of the nets.  So, in 1935, they developed the first trampoline using bolts to secure a large piece of canvas to an iron frame.

A trampoline is defined by Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia, as a gymnastic and recreational device consisting of a piece of taut, strong fabric stretched over a steel frame using many coiled springs to provide a rebounding force which propels the jumper high into the air.

Competitive trampolines are the sturdiest and most durable trampolines manufactured today.  This style is primarily used by athletes and can be easily transported anywhere around the world as it is very lightweight.  Competitive trampolines have a steel frame that can be folded for transport to sporting events.

The recreational trampoline is the style you see most often in schools, on playgrounds, in gymnasiums and in residential backyards.  This style of trampoline comes in several sizes, ranging from small, one-person trampolines to large ones that can accommodate several people.  Shapes of recreational trampolines include square, octagonal, rectangular, and circular.

Trampolines are now seen around the world and are enjoyed by adults and children alike.  Trampolines of all sizes, shapes and colours are seen in backyards, gymnasiums, fitness centers and schools.  There are several different types of trampolines and each one has specific features.

The standard size of a competitive trampoline bed is 14 feet by 7 feet.  The frame has around 110 steel springs, which support a special fabric woven from webbing.  The result is that the jumper can bounce higher and perform a wider variety of stunts.  They tend to be a bit more expensive than other types of trampolines, but they are built so well that professional athletes at the Olympic Games have used them since the year 2000.  Athletes also use them for cross training for sports such as skiing, wrestling, diving and snowboarding.

Another style of recreational trampoline is the water trampoline.  This style of trampoline typically floats in the water by way of an inflatable tube.  These are marketed exclusively for fun, but anyone using them will still get quite a bit of exercise jumping as high into the air as possible without space constraints.

Recreational trampolines are designed with fewer springs than a competitive trampoline.  Instead of a special woven fabric, waterproof canvas is used in this style of trampoline.  Schools use them for physical education classes.  Gymnasiums market them as a fun alternative to getting fit and strong.  Parents often purchase a recreational style trampoline for the whole family to have fun and get some exercise together.

Mini trampolines are unique, as they are much smaller than traditional trampolines.  These are great for people who live in an apartment or smaller condominium.  Mini trampolines offer the benefits of an effective cardio workout in a smaller space.  The mini trampoline is also gentler to knees and joints.  The coils used to make the mini trampolines won’t propel the jumper too high into the air, so it’s an ideal choice for indoor use.

No matter what type of trampoline you use, always practice safety!

Trampoline Benefits

For many people, the thought of a trampoline conjures up images of acrobats and playing children.  While exercise trampolines are smaller and used for different purposes, this image is a good one.  Think again of these acrobats and playing children, and think about how fit they are, how their hearts are pumping more efficiently than the kids sitting in front of the television.  These same benefits are available to adults who use a trampoline for exercise for a brief period every day, and the results might even be surprising.

The need for exercise in today’s society is apparent just by looking around at a crowded place or event.  With more and more unhealthy foods flooding the market, people having less time to cook a healthy meal, and jobs requiring less and less physical exertion, people are gaining weight and losing fitness at an alarming rate.  There are many means and ways of exercise, and here we shall examine one of the best and fastest ways to improve ones health in many ways at once; the trampoline.

Trampoline exercise provides a simple and enjoyable way to help rid the body of toxins and improve the circulatory system.  Like all aerobic exercise, trampoline jumping helps to speed up the heart rate and increases the amount of oxygen that saturates the blood with each pump of the heart.  This helps with breathing as well.  By helping to cleanse the body, trampoline jumping helps to boost the immune system, fighting off the germs and illnesses we are exposed to on a frequent basis.  Trampolines are also easier on the joints than most forms of exercise.  In addition to all of these benefits, trampoline jumping provides an excellent solution for people who feel that they simply do not have the time to exercise, as 15 minutes of trampoline exercise is the equivalent to 40 minutes of jogging.  Because exercise trampolines are small, they can be kept in virtually any room in the house, which means not only can you exercise at any time, but unlike jogging and other outdoor activities, you can exercise in any weather.

In conclusion, trampoline exercise has many benefits.  It is fun, safe, and a relatively easy way to greatly improve one’s physical and mental health.  It can be done alone or with family or friends to help keep you motivated as well as entertained.  It is also inexpensive and can be done from home, which makes it a viable alternative for people who do not have access to, time for, or the desire to join a gym.  In a world where exercise is becoming a dire necessity, it is helpful to have a method that is both fun and effective, such as an exercise trampoline.

In addition to its effects on the body, trampoline exercise has many positive effects on the mind as well.  It is fun and enjoyable, which helps to eliminate stress.  By exerting the body, you use up excess energy, which can help restore restful sleep and relaxation.  As with all exercise, it also releases endorphins, which are well known to help reduce and eliminate depression.  In addition to this comes weight loss and physical health, which improve one’s self-esteem.

Trampoline Safety

LOCATION OF THE TRAMPOLINE

It’s vital that the trampolines be placed in an area away from poles, trees, fences and any other outdoor toys. If possible, place the trampoline in an area that already has an energy-absorbing surface, such as tall grasses. The spring system of the trampoline is safer if it has a frame pad that covers the entire surface area of the trampoline. Some parents even prefer to dig a pit for the trampoline so it can be lowered to a position that meets ground level. Read all of the instructions prior to assembling the trampolines.

Trampoline Safety

Trampolines are one of the most popular recreational outdoor toys being purchased by consumers today. Drive through any neighborhood and you’ll likely see trampolines of every size, shape and color in several backyards. Trampolines are marketed as a recreational outdoor toy that provides a fun way for children to get exercise. However, just as you would explain the safety rules for a climbing gym to your children, there are rules that apply to trampoline safety as well.

BASIC SAFETY RULES

· Only one person should occupy the trampoline at one time.

· Jumping off of the trampoline is not safe! Children and adults alike should climb down in a controlled manner.

· Spotters should be around the trampoline at all times.

· All jewelry should be removed prior to using the trampoline.

SET GROUND RULES BEFORE USING THE TRAMPOLINE

Children do desire structure and boundaries (even though they will buck against them!). Before children are permitted to use the trampoline, give them the safety rules and boundaries for having fun and staying safe at the same time. Make sure the children are aware of the possible consequences of not following the rules (injury). Trampoline injuries can include sprains, bruises, broken bones, and sometimes, very serious injuries, unless proper safety techniques are obeyed.

· The first skill to learn is how to stop yourself at the end of the bounce by flexing your knees as your feet come into contact with the trampoline. Exercising control is key when using a trampoline.

· NO stunts, such as flips or somersaults should be attempted on the trampoline. Neck, head, and back injuries resulting from landing on these areas can be serious.

· Control the height of your bounces. Stay low until you’ve gained some experience and strength.

· Children without adult supervision should never use trampolines.

· Don’t use the trampoline during times of high winds or severe weather.

· Don’t bounce on a trampoline if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

· An adult should inspect the trampoline on a regular basis to make sure all springs are intact and safely padded. Check the canvas for signs of wear as well.

· If a ladder came with the trampoline, always remove it when the trampoline is not in use. This will help to ensure that small children won’t climb onto the trampoline unsupervised.

· Trampoline enclosures are another way to help keep children and adults safe when using the trampoline.

Trampolines Energy

Children are naturally full of energy and need a means by which to release it.  Outdoors toys are perfect for children to not only expend their seemingly endless energy, but to also develop important interactive and coordination skills.  Using outdoor toys improves muscular ability and promotes critical thinking in children.

Numerous studies have shown that human beings respond positively to being outside and that we inherently crave the outdoors and fresh air.  It is also said by some medical experts that children begin to develop autonomy and independence from their parents while exploring outdoor environments.  They discover that they are able to do things they didn’t know they could do, which gives them a great sense of self-esteem and desire to learn and do more as an individual.

Swimming pools are typically the first thing that comes to mind for most families when they think of investing in an outdoor “toy”.  They are an excellent choice for the entire family and there are several different choices on the market today that don’t require digging a huge hole in your back yard.  Modern-day inflatable pools ranging in size and shape are the perfect answer for the hot summer days.  Whether you choose a round, oval, or rectangular inflatable pool, there’s one that will conveniently fit your outdoor space.  Children and adults alike will enjoy swimming, playing pool games and burning off a lot of energy at the same time.

Trampolines are another popular choice when it comes to outdoor toys.  Children of all ages will get great exercise and have tons of fun jumping on a trampoline in their back yard.  Again, there are several sizes and shapes from which to choose.  There are small trampolines, large trampolines, round ones, oval ones or rectangular ones.  An important accessory for those with young children would be the enclosure that attaches to the trampoline and creates flexible sides around the edges.

Board games will always be a classic way for children to learn skills like simple math, colors, balance, and coordination.  Why not take those concepts outside?  Outside, children have more freedom to be a bit louder and have more space to engage in activities they might not be able to do inside the house.  Garden games are perfect for playing outside and thinking “outside the box” a bit.  Giant towers created in a mirror image of the tabletop game (except much bigger!) will challenge you and your children to pull out the wooden block at the bottom without making the entire tower tumble to the grass.  Another garden version of a popular tabletop game challenges you to get “4 across” before your opponent does.  This version comes in a height that reaches the chest of an average man.

Climbing frames, (jungle gyms), are another fantastic and fun outdoor toy for children.  These can include slides, ladders, monkey bars, climbing walls, swings, poles, swinging rings, bridges, and even a small playhouse.  It doesn’t require much coaxing for children to take action and play hard on a climbing frame.  They’ll use their imaginations all day long creating scenarios with pirates, cops and robbers, knights and princesses, and lots of other characters, all while climbing, sliding, swinging, and using every muscle in their growing and developing bodies.

Perhaps you have children younger than six years of age and don’t feel comfortable with them jumping on a full-size trampoline.  A bouncy castle might be just the answer for you and your little ones.  These fully enclosed bouncing and jumping play areas inflate in minutes and are continuously inflated with an electric air blower.  Some styles even include a basketball hoop so children can practice their jump shot in a safe environment.  Others have a slide on the side so children can not only jump, but also slide and run in a big circle.  You’ll be the hit of the neighborhood!  These bouncy castles are ideal for birthday parties or the occasional family get-together.

Bicycles were once all the rage and pretty much every child in the neighborhood had one.  Give your child the opportunity to use different muscles and skills with a pedal car.  There are models shaped like fire trucks, trains, and dune buggies.  Consider it your child’s first go-cart!  There are pedal and petrol-powered versions available on the market today.  These are ideal for just about any environment and enable children to get the feel for the maneuverability of a small vehicle.  (Note:  If you decide on the petrol-powered version, make sure to obey city regulations concerning usage.)

As you can see, there are several choices in outdoor toys that will benefit your children and the family.  Do your research and decide on the one (or more!) that your family would enjoy together.

Summer Trampolines

Trampolines can be very popular toys during the spring and summer, and sometimes even when the weather is not so nice.  Of course, children who like trampolines may like other bouncy toys.  These can include bouncy ride on balls, pogo sticks, pogo balls, moon shoes, and even bouncy riders.

However, there are some children that do not like bouncy toys, but they would still like to play outside.  Thankfully, there are many outside toys that can be bought or are at least going to be available at a local playground.

Of course, there’s the typical swing set.  Some children love to swing, and there is nothing wrong with that.  However, some children get very tired of swinging and want to do something else.

Thankfully swing sets can come with other attachments.

There are slides.  Slides are great toys for children who like to climb straight and then feel the wind rush over their bodies as they land on the ground.

There are monkey bars.  These can be fun for many children, as long as the children like to hang.

There are sandboxes which can be fun for children who don’t mind getting sand in their clothes.

The only problem is that these tend to be the only things that are offered with swing sets that are not some type of bouncy trampoline like toy.

What are some other options for outdoor toys for children who do not like trampolines?

Of course, there are jungle gyms.  Jungle gyms come in many different shapes and sizes.  The great part about them is that the bars tend to be in many different places.  Thus, children who feel much safer closer to the ground can stay close to the ground.  They either do not have to climb or can simply sit on one of the first bars.  Then, children who like to be high can climb to the highest bars.  They can even hang upside down.

What if the children prefer swimming?

Well, another great idea is to get a pool.  If they are young children and no risk is wanted, wading pools are a great choice.  There are even wading pools with little stairs and a little slide rather than just the pool that sits on the ground and is a round circle with nothing else.  Some wading pools are inflatable and have fountains that come out of them.  There are even family size pool that are not quite considered wading pools, but are only about two feet deep.

Then there are the above ground pools that are about four feet deep.  These are a great choice of toy for older children who like to swim or play in the water.

For small children, there are always play houses.  Of course, there are the typical little indoor play sets.  However, there are even now many different playhouses.  There are small ones that are simple one room houses decorated with maybe a table and a chair.  Then, there are also bigger ones that provide more than one room and can easily be set up outside as if it is a whole house.  This can provide children with hours of fun as they will play house or some other type of game within the playhouse.

So, while trampolines are fun, there are always many other options for those who like and who do not like trampolines.

Popular Trampolines

Trampolines are very popular bouncy toys, especially when it is nice outside.  However, not every family can afford a trampoline and many times there is not a family with a trampoline within a good distance for children to play.

Thankfully, there are other outdoor toys that are very bouncy as well.

First, if it is a trampoline that is really wanted, a child may be pleased if a mini trampoline is bought.  This will not provide all the fun of a full size trampoline, but the child can easily have fun bouncing on the trampoline and trying different things with it.  It also means that it is portable which may suit the child’s needs much better than a huge stationary trampoline.

If the child is old enough to balance and likes to bounce, the toy of choice might be the pogo stick.  The pogo stick is a simple toy.  It is a bar with handles at one end and foot pads on the other.  There is a spring under the foot pads so it will support the pole and the user when it hits the ground.

There have also been improvements to the pogo stick and these are valid options for bouncy toys.  First, there is the Vurtego, which uses an air spring system rather than the traditional spring.  Then there is also the Flybar.  Rather than using a spring, it uses twelve (12) elastic bands.

Another bouncy toy that may appease children is the pogo ball.  This is a rubber ball that is locked into a sturdy plastic platform.  The user then stands on the platform, holding the ball between the feet, and bounces with the ball.  This toys is also known as the lolo ball, the springball, and the disc o.

Yet another bouncy toy that may be a good option instead of a trampoline are moon shoes.  The shoes are marketed as mini trampolines for the feet, and that is basically what they are.  The shoe tops are placed on top of a casing where material is stretched over a free flowing inner web of stretched bands.  This gives the same type of rebound as a trampoline, but it is made for the feet.

Then there are the sit on bouncy balls.  While these may not provide the same type of fun as trampolines or the other bouncy toys, they are much safer for younger children and can still be a lot of fun.  These balls tend to be huge for the person using the ball and have a rubber hook on one side that can be held.  This way the user can sit on the ball and has support so it can be bounced along in any type of path where the user wants to go.  Sometimes these balls even have covers to look like different animals or television characters.

Of course, for young children (or at least those young at heart and not over the weight limit), there are the bouncy horses.  Rather than a rocking horse, these horses are suspended on metal frames and have springs that keep them in place.  Users can then ride the bouncy horse.  Large and small versions are made, so the horses can be kept either inside or outside.  These are similar to the bouncy riders found on playgrounds, but they tend to give more of a bouncy feeling.

Different Trampolines

A trampoline is a piece of material that is stretched over a steel frame and hooked to many springs so it is taut and provides a rebounding force.  This propels any person who jumps on the trampoline to bounce back into the air.  A trampoline’s fabric does not bounce.  The tautness of the material hooked to the springs provides the bounce.

There are many sizes of trampolines.  Of course, there are huge trampolines that are meant to be used outside.  They may be used as toys for playtime.  They may also be used for Olympic events.  The Olympians that do trampoline sports are known as trampolinists.

There are also quite small trampolines.  They are usually about a yard or less in diameter and sometimes they are called trampettes.  They are usually used for physical fitness, but youngsters can find much joy in using them as toys as well.  These trampolines are usually kept indoors and they do not give as much as a rebound as full size trampolines.

However, these trampolines can be kept outdoors as well.  They can definitely provide extra fun to different outdoor activities.

Only so much can be done or added on a full size trampoline while still keeping children safe.  However, small children like to play outside and have very vivid imaginations.  If they need help pretending, here are some ideas that they can be told and then they can play on the trampoline.

Roll around on the trampoline and see if you bounce.
Pretend to be different animals that jump and jump around on the trampoline.
Pretend to be a superhero and fly around the trampoline by jumping as if it is the city that the superhero saves.
If there are at least two children, have them take turns where only one jumps on the trampoline and the others sit once and lie down once to see what it feels like when somebody else is jumping and have them feel that they are also affected by the movement.

Small trampolines can be brought other places, unlike a full size trampoline that has to stay in one place.

The small trampolines can add a lot of fun to any outdoor game or even at the playground.

Playing baseball when the pitcher has to move about on a trampoline or both the pitcher and the batter have to move about on a trampoline make a great difference in the game.  It is no longer just standing still and watching the pitch, now movement is added.  Even if the pitcher or the batter try not to move, the trampoline will make it impossible for no movement to happen.

A mini trampoline can be brought to the playground.  This has advantages for smaller children.  Sometimes smaller children can not reach the monkey bars or climb as high as they would like on a jungle gym.  However, by bringing a mini trampoline, this can change by giving them a small boost.  This way they can try climbing by themselves and not rely on a parent’s help to just lift them up to the bars.  The children will feel much more accomplished by this feat.

Of course, trampolines are a great source of fun for children who like to bounce. These toys will also keep them from jumping on the bed if they tend to do that type of thing.

If a trampoline is not in the budget, there are other bouncy toys that can be bought as well.  These include pogo sticks, pogo balls, and for those families with large budgets, even inflatable bouncy houses or castles.

My Trampoline Experiences

When I Was younger I could eat anything I wanted, sit around for as long as I wanted and not think about the weight I wasn’t putting on. Then I started my family, I had 3 children,  4 years apart from the oldest to the youngest. That is when the weight really started to pile on.

I must have tried every single diet going, soup diets, cereal diets, the diets, where you eat no carbohydrates, eating 3 very low fat meals a day, nothing worked. I tried dieting whilst going to the gym, then I was finding that the few odd pounds that I did lose was being straight back on when I had eaten nothing but a lettuce leaf for weeks then went out for that sneaky Chinese. But what was I suppose to do? I am a Mother, people cant seriously expect me not to socialise, I need some salvation once and a while. I was never big but I was big for my height, I weighed about 12 stone and I am only 5ft.My husband always tells me I am beautiful and that my weight does not matter but as a woman you always feel that you could be slimmer.

Then it happened, My eldest son had been round his friends house for a play day and when I picked him up he said to me “Mum, can we get a Trampoline, my friend has one, we have been playing on it all afternoon”. So I called his mum, I thought he was talking about one of those mini trampolines you see in sports shops, but this trampoline was huge. It was surrounded by a huge safety net with a little step ladder to help you get onto it.

I had a look online and found a great one that would fit in my garden but was big enough for all 3 of my children to jump around and avoiding collisions. I was surprised at how cheap it was. The children were warn out by the time I put them to bed.

One night I decided to have a go myself. I must have jumped for a good 30 minutes, I had so much fun. To my amazement after 2 weeks I had lost 5lbs, so I carried on jumping an eating well. I jumped with the kids and when they had gone to bed. My Husband noticed a huge change in me after a month or so,  I had lost a stone in 6 weeks, I felt so fit and healthy. The amount of exercise I was getting was also lightening my mood, it was a win, win situation for everyone.

6 Months on I have lost 2 stone and I have never felt better. My Trampoline was by far the best diet I have ever been on.

Trampolines and Outdoor Toys for Exercise

Because we live in a world where child obesity is now becoming more common, it is important for children to get outside and exercise while they play. It is important to teach children of all ages good exercising habits, to ensure they maintain a healthy lifestyle as soon as they learn how to walk. Exercise can be fun for both children and adults, and getting outside and playing on trampolines and other outdoor toys is a great way to teach healthy exercise habits. Exercising can be fun and entertaining for children, but still be very beneficial to their overall health.

Trampolines are very fun for children of all ages, and adults can even get in on the fun of having one in your backyard. They are great for increasing heart rate as well as maintaining a healthy metabolism, but children use them for jumping around and playing games. Trampolines are great for providing exercise to children, but they think they are just going outside to have a good time. They can jump around, try flips, or even play games with their friends, and they will be exercising and burning calories at the same time. They are also great for letting children get their energy out before going back inside, so they won’t be running around and acting up since they will be tired from their trampoline fun.

Wooden climbing frames are also great for children to learn healthy habits, since they involve children running around and climbing on different types of stairs and structures. They are great for toddlers learning to walk and climb and ideal for older children who love to stay in constant motion. Climbing frames work many of the different muscle groups in the body, since you can climb up stairs, across a rope, or even up a slanted wall. They can even slide down slides, climb up miniature rock climbing walls, or even swing on swings and climb through tubes. They can keep children entertained for hours, and can handle the weight of several children depending on the size. Wooden climbing frames come in a number of different sizes and varieties, so they can fit in almost any backyard and accommodate practically any size family with children of all ages.

Many other outdoor toys are also great for exercise, such as swimming pools, pedal cars, and even table sports. They all work at increasing heart rate and encouraging constant motion, which makes it easy for children to learn healthy habits for avoiding obesity. They are great for children and entire families, and work great at encouraging family bonding in your own backyard. Adults can even get in on the fun with their children, and promote healthy lifestyles for everyone in the family. Being outdoors with the family can be very enjoyable, and is also great for providing health benefits especially using  trampolines, climbing frames and other outdoor toys for exercise.

Trampoline Parts

Year after year, the Trampoline has been one of the most well known and popular recreational items since many of us can remember. People of all ages from very young to the more mature adult, enjoy the thrill of being thrown up into the air with the smallest of jump, well with practise anyway. The fabric which a Trampoline is made of is stretched tightly across the frame, which is usually made of strong steel. Springs which are attached to the frame, keep it taught and assist in giving it its unique bouncing quality.  Even the more inexperienced user can make jumps of several meters, with many more experienced jumpers making jumps around the 10 meter mark. There are many size and shapes of trampoline, with round trampolines such as the Jumpking trampoline (see below) being one of the most popular in the UK.

The trampoline is built from several different parts, but comes across as a basic looking piece of equipment. Even though they are built to last, and can last years they still take a large amount of impact and beating even from the modest users. The parts include the steel frame with the fabric stretched across and the springs. Even though the fabric is usually of the highest quality, it can still be prone to tearing if it comes into sharp objects such as stones in trainers so bouncing is usually advised to be done barefoot.  Depending on the make of trampoline, depends how thick and durable the fabric is, but this piece can be changed or replaced over time even if it is just normal wear and tear. Springs themselves can loose their shape over time to, so effecting the bounce and not being able to jump as high so can easily be replaced.  The springs though are usually made from galvanized steel so a good while before they do need replacing.

Competetion trampolines and their parts usually last longer than recreational trampolines due to the standard required for these kinds of Trampolines. To make your own trampoline last as long as possible, you can get a trampoline cover to stop animals, leaves and dirt from falling on it when not in use. Some do come with the trampoline as standard, but if not then still a worthwhile investment. For safety, enclosures can be purchased which stops anyone who is bouncing from falling off when they are having fun and risking getting hurt. In windy weather, strap downs can be attached and a ladder can be used for getting on and off a trampoline even if the weather is fine, as they can be quiet high off the ground.

Even though trampolines are great fun, it is always advised to take the safety aspects into consideration. For the full range of Trampolines from Madfun at a great price, click here

Trampoline Prices

During the summer months, trampolines are one of the largest searches online due to the immense fun they give to all ages all day, every day of the summer. So many countries go trampoline mad, from kids in back gardens to schools and gymnasiums. The feeling of being able to defy gravity is exhilarating and hard to beat with any other outdoor toy. They are such a popular thing, that there is even an Olympic event.

When looking to buy a trampoline, price is a very good pointer to how high a standard the trampoline has been designed and made. Trampolines in general can vary greatly from very cheap to very expensive. Simple indoor trampolines will set you back a few pounds, where as the largest outdoor rectangular and round trampolines can cost hundreds of pounds. Trampolines for sports and competition use can cost considerably much more due to the high quality fabric, springs and overall strength needed.

When looking at prices, you will usually find that round trampolines can cost more than a rectangular one. Usually round trampolines are found in family back gardens, with safety nets on some varieties such as the Jumpking Trampoline. This meanas its very hard to fall off the trampoline and cause injury.

A standard round trampoline costs from £80 and can be found to cost up to £400 or maybe a little more, especially with the Oval Trampoline now on the market.
