Backyard Trampolining

If you want exercise and excitement look no further than a trampoline in your backyard.  It’s as simple as that.  It is excellent for regular exercise and they come in all sizes and styles.  The important thing to remember is consider what size can fit in so measure up before buying.  You should also consider what shape you will require and allow for movement around the trampoline when it is in use.

The three main types all come in varying sizes and are round, rectangular and square.

The round one is basically designed so that the participant jumps in the centre of the trampoline.  The round trampoline is ideal for young children especially if it is fitted with a guard that will stop any falls from it.

The rectangular one gives more space to jump on and its springs are fra more flexible thus enabling the person to jump higher.  This type of trampoline is favoured more by professional jumpers and non professional teenagers.

Thirdly is the square design. Similar in part to the rectangular one but without such a higher bounce to it.  Ideal for small children.

Do bear in mind that any trampoline that is being used by a small child MUST have correct guards, and padded springs and above all ADULT SUPERVISION.   This is for safety reasons speaking of which you should be extra careful if the trampoline is wet as slipping and sliding can occur and accidents can happen.

Cost wise a trampoline can cost anything from under £200 upwards but it all depends on size.  A large rectangular one can cost up to £800.  Prices will and do vary from outlet to outlet and it is best to check a few prices before committing yourself to any particular one.  Take a look on the internet as prices are sometimes much less than a standard High Street vendor.  Work out how much you can afford and work to that guideline but don’t skimp in the sake of safety.  Safety is paramount.

So, you have decided to purchase a trampoline but are not too sure what you should look for.   Well in no strict order you should consider structure, mats, weightiness and warranties.

The structure should be sturdy and there is a preference for it to be made of aluminium.  This will enable it to be moved if it needs to be and it will not be too heavy.   Try and get some good mats as a badly made one is liable to cause injury if anyone falls through it. Before you complete any transaction make sure the manufacturer has provided a warranty against faulty workmanship and parts.  Finally pay strict attention to the weight restriction on the equipment with particular attention to the maximum weight especially if there is more than one participant at any one time.

To summarise enjoy your trampoline but make sure you and everyone who uses it or who is supervising its use knows the rules and regulations.  Happy trampolining.
